I always wanted Chris LeDoux to record the great rodeo song by 1960's folksinger Peter Lafarge titled "Don't Tell Me How I Looked Falling" (Tell Me How I looked ON") but I could never find it in his catalogue. Perhaps Ned or Andy will someday give it a try...it is a fine four-minute tune. You can find it on the Lafarge CD "Peter Lafarge Sings Women Blues" on Smithsonian Folkways CD "Folkways Records FA 2534." I used to own the vinyl issue on the Verve Folkways LP of the same title.

I got to see Chris perform in Greeley Co in in 2002. Ned was there at that show playing a bit of guitar. It is not just Ned's opinion, Chris put on the best shows. He was also one of the most loved singers in rural Australia, we stopped a rodeo to observe a minutes silence when he passed. I'm hoping to get to see Ned's show one day, have to get to Elko one day. Ned like he's father, their music can pass borders and still mean as much to the listener. I was in Norway writing songs for a couple of bands there. I introduced them to Chris' song and they liked as much as I do. They where small farming communities and the words where as true for them as in the USA or Australia. Next in Line is as prevalent here as it is in Wyoming.

I was at that Dustin Evans concert in Lincoln. Spoke with Ned in the outdoor beer garden area between sets. I remember asking him how things were in Kaycee. And him saying "how do you know that's where I'm from" I don't remember what I replied...but I remember thinking, you're Ned ledoux. Of course I know where you're from. Just an example of his humbleness.

Great interview, Andy. My roots start in Northeast Wyoming on the JH Ranch. It was fun to hear Ned reflect on this upbringing. Powder River, Let ‘er Buck! See you in Red River Saturday!
